More About Us
Uptake (n.)
"capacity for understanding, perceptive power,"
Uptake is the production house behind Hawaiʻi's closed-loop green economy. From our Waimanalo base yard, we take what
the islands throw away green waste, storm debris, kiawe, land-clearing residue and turn it into finished
Hawaiian-made goods: Loyal Soil blends, Kila Kiawe for the grill and the glass, Farm Pods, and Edible Landscapes.
We're the production arm of a four-pillar operation, working in sync with Greenwaste on intake, Biosocks Hawaiʻi on
erosion control, and Hawaiian Hydroseed on restoration so client waste flows in one side and Hawaiian-made products
flow out the other. Hawaiʻi imports roughly 85% of what it eats and nearly all of its soil. Closing that loop isn't a
slogan for us. It's the business.
